Working With Others – Part 2

Once you have the roles and the leader chosen, then it seems like it will be time to get to work. Now it also may be wise to make sure you have people in the roles that best fit their strengths. It may not be wise to hand over the finances to someone that cannot even manage their own checking account. Of course if there are very few people on the project, you just have to do the best you can.

Finally, define the details for working on the project. The key here to many is to make sure everyone keeps up with their deadlines and dedicates the amount of time they should to the project. You don’t want someone working on something hard to only have the others slack off.

In the end try and get along and have fun. Make sure that you respect each others ideas and time.

Working With Others – Part 1

Let’s just say that you are going for a patent on an idea you have. But you have decided for one reason or another that you will work as partners with one or more persons. This can be really difficult if you have not been down this path before. Here could be some helpful hints to the otherwise newbie here.

One thing to do is define roles. Some roles may be bigger than others. That should be fine as we all have our strengths and weaknesses. Then try and consider getting a leader on the project. No, it does not have to be a dictatorship, but just someone who will keep more track of the progress than anyone else.
