Someone Else’s Idea
Have you ever heard someone mention an idea for say a product they have but yet they have no desire really to act on it? Well, what do you do? In truth, that is totally up to you. But what may be the safest way to handle this is to share with that person the desire to see their idea through to completion.
This may save you lots of grief later on. We will not discuss any of the possible legalities here; you just may be better off starting off on the right foot by being honest though. Or, you could always ignore the idea and try to come up with one of your own.
Honesty can truly be the best policy.
Inventions Gone Wrong
I am sure among even the world’s greatest inventors that they too have had their not so great moments. It has been said that failure at something can be a key to success at something else later. With an invention this can certainly be true. Imagine trying to invent a light bulb only to see it fails tons of times. Well that happened to Edison. But keep in mind that even though he failed several times, from those failures came ways to improve on his final design and keep the product from failing again.
So when an invention goes wrong, it will be up to you on whether or not you continue with it. There could be some cases when it is best to pitch the idea or it can also be best at times to keep on trying.
-Happy inventing out there.
Does It Take A Genius?
Does it take a genius to invent something? It can certainly help depending on what it is you want to invent, but if you look around you and do some research you will find people of all ages, race and gender have had great inventions. Many people in the world sometimes feel that they do not have what it takes to go above and beyond when it comes to taking an idea and running with it. They may often think that their ideas will not work out or it will be difficult for them to develop them past what is in their head.
No matter what, ultimately it is up to you as to how far you take an idea, but remember that many people in the world of all types have invented things.
Great Inventions
While reading this post, what are some of the greatest inventions of all time to you? Maybe they are some that are really important to your life. Some great inventions can be really small or huge. No matter what, if you think its great then many people may think so also and the impact that the invention has had on our world is probably huge.
Imagine where we would be without electricity. It plays a very important role in our society. Most of us cannot imagine going without it even for an hour or so.
Then there may be something as cheap and simple as hydrogen peroxide. Imagine the impact that this has had. You get a paper cut or a wound of some sort and just a little pour of this on it can be truly be life saving and keep you from getting a major infection. WOW.
Think of the impact that the internet has on your life and try to imagine not having it. It fuels our economy in a huge way and has become very important in most of our lives. Some of us out there even earn our living by using it. So the list of great inventions is obviously huge, what is on your list?
Ideas Gone Wrong
In the world on inventing, the key to success may end up being found through lots of failures. No wonder tons of people tell others not to give up or if first you don’t succeed, try, try again. We have all heard these saying before. And for some of us maybe we should not give up. For others when an idea fails, maybe there are also good reasons to give up. It all depends.
Consider some of the huge products out on the market today. Post-it notes for example. They basically came up with the idea while trying to come up with another super style glue. From stories going around it seems that with sweet-n-low, parts of it were from some sort of pesticide. Also when Edison invented the light bulb, it took him failing lots of times before he got it just right.
So should you give up? You never know, what may seem wrong could end up turning into something right. Also, what you have may end up being something better than what you had originally anticipated. To give up or not, only you can decide.
The Idea
Now you have an idea for a great product. An idea though without action is nothing more than just that. If you want to realize that idea, it is going to take a ton of work. But that work can also be fun and rewarding. So give it a try, you have little to lose and much to gain.
So where do you start? Well here are some suggestions, and these are just that, suggestions.
You will first want to start by writing down your idea on paper, getting as much detail down as possible. Then start some research. Search Google for products that may be like yours. Just type in the description of your product to see what’s out there. If you find nothing, then great, you can move on to the next step. That would be to do a patent search to make sure someone has not filed a patent on your idea. If you do not see anything like it, then that is great.
Next you will want to file your patent if you’re ready to move forward. Then you can go out and look for manufacturers to get a prototype. Now keep in mind, let’s say you will end up selling your item for $10, the prototype will cost lots more. Molds may have to be designed or tools made to make it. From there you possibly need help marketing your idea. And do not forget to get a website; it is a must for doing business today.
